In 2020, Scotland celebrates its Coasts and Waters with a year-long programme of events and activities which will shine a spotlight on these vital elements of our landscape.

Including its many islands, Scotland boasts a hugely varied coastline and a rich offering of inland waters in both rural and urban settings for both visitors and locals to enjoy.

Our Coasts and Waters are host to an amazing array of riches, come in all shapes and sizes, and are greatly valued and cherished by communities and visitors alike. Our lochs, rivers and canals also play an important part in the visitor experience, offering boat trips, fishing opportunities and activity holidays, while the many nature reserves across the country are home to a tremendous variety of flora, fauna and wildlife.

Scotland’s Coasts and Waters have shaped our history: from fishing and textiles to whisky and wave power they have influenced our culture, our stories, our way of life. So whether you want to navigate your way around distant isles or canals, experience Scotland’s maritime heritage at a visitor attraction, enjoy Scotland’s abundant natural larder or discover Scotland’s wildlife on a local boat trip - Scotland’s coasts and waters are perfect for get-away-from-it-all adventures.

Yacht Charters and Sailing Holidays are the perfect getaway

Here at Flamingo Yacht Charters we are really excited to be part of the Year of Coasts and Waters. We would like to encourage as many people as possible to get out on the water and to experience what our wonderful country has to offer. We can cater for all levels of sailing ability from complete beginners to expert sailors. Our boats range in size from 30 feet - 45 feet in length. The smaller yachts are perfect for couples and smaller families and our larger 45 foot yachts are ideal for groups of friends and corporate charters. We can offer the services of a skipper and first mate too so there really is no need to have a sailing qualification under your belt before you hop aboard with us.

Experienced sailors will have a blast with the bays, inlets and islands of the Clyde within easy reach and the Hebrides, Ireland and the Isle of Man calling out to those who like to venture further afield.

Once aboard your yacht, you can choose to explore historic locations, visit remote islands, seek out traditional folk music in the cosy pubs or make it your goal to spot the many species of birdlife and wildlife that we are blessed with, from sea eagles and puffins to dolphins and otters.

You will not go hungry or thirsty either! Each of yachts has a fully equipped galley (kitchen) and once provisioned you will soon be whipping up meals with ease on board. If you get fed up with cooking, there are lots of wonderful restaurants to visit, fabulous local produce to sample and more whisky distilleries than you could possibly imagine to visit not to mention the plethora of island gin producers that have also popped up with recent years.

So what are you waiting for – come on in, the water’s lovely!

Book a yacht charter with Flamingo Yachts. Add one of our skippers if you need one.

Our Coasts and Waters are accessible to all. Just ask us if you have any questions about how to get afloat. We'd love to chat.
